About Me

A little more detail about 'Why Japan?'
My parents met in the Navy and after getting married they were stationed in Japan. They lived in Japan for 3 years. They did not live on base but choice to live in Japanese housing. (My mom and her family also lived in Japan when she was around six years old, for the Navy as well) When they moved back to the states they had me and I certainly got a decent dose of Japanese culture. We I was between the ages of five and nine we had Japanese students live at our house for short periods of time. It was a cool program. They were normally in middle school or high school, around the age of 14. Our neighbors did the same program so it was tons of fun. We got to have picnics and special events, even went to Disneyland with the girls! All very fun. One even sewed me a kimono!
After that I always loved looking at the things my parents owned that they had bought there and watching the 80's tv they had recorded. Japanese game shows can be pretty funny!
When I was nine I discovered something else....SAILOR MOON! Oh my, it was the best thing ever! Even beat the Spice Girls! I collected anything I could find that was Sailor Moon and made sure to watch every episode, my mom was even nice enough to tape them while I was at school.
This started the anime appreciation. Of course I only saw things on toonami. Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Big O and some other things later on. I also liked Reboot but that wasn't in the anime category. I loved anime stores and my parents even took me to a little local anime convention. It was innocent, I was only like...10? Fun times! I also got into manga of course but again, not a lot. I kinda grew out of the nerdy part of liking it and the obsessive part by the time I was in 8th grade. I had moved on to Harry Potter. Haha. Anyways, all through high school and even now I just dabble in anime and manga, if I find one I REALLY like but normally it is still the older ones. I now own ALL of Sailor moon and am quite proud of it :P Haha. I also STILL want to cosplay at least ONCE in my life. Besides that I am more into the culture and Japanese life style. (Cosplay is just fun and I am a very creative person so it just seems to entertaining but I would want the costume to be perfect. I'm picky.)
PS: I like other things besides Japan. There is much more to me, this is just a snippet of my life. A good snippet!
